Curriculum
Two Years
This is a developmentally appropriate program that addresses all aspects of the child with special attention to social and
emotional growth. The curriculum includes promotion of physical development and movement from parallel play to peer play. The goals of this
program are to encourage a comfort level in the school environment, development of a positive teacher-student relationship, and readiness for
a preschool program.
During Sharing Time the child learns to:
- listen quietly
- develop self-control and share
- build independence
- respect the rights and property of others
- develop basic communication skills
- listen to friends
During Work Time the child learns to:
- follow simple directions
- complete a task
- use school materials correctly
- matching
- enjoy school work
- develop creativity
- color, cut, paste & paint
- exercise small muscles
- improve eye-hand coordination
- identify shapes & colors
During Story Time the child learns to:
- enjoy different kinds of stories & poems
- listen and answer questions
- develop a love of books & stories
During Music Time the child learns to:
- appreciate songs and rhythms
- explore gross motor movements with music
- participate in a group activity
- express feelings with music & movement
During Physical Activity the child learns to:
- develop more control of body movements
- improve flexibility & balance
- increase coordination
- enjoy ball skills, climbing, swinging
- build self-confidence
During Play Time the child learns to:
- get along with others
- practice some self-control
- use words to solve problems
- use words to express feelings
- make choices
- make some friendships
